We are committed to helping team members build their families. Our adoption assistance policy provides financial reimbursement for qualifying adoption expenses, such as application fees, home studies, placement fees, transportation, lodging and more.


Retirement Benefits

Enjoy peace of mind knowing that at Southern, you’re not just working. You’re also working toward your future. Our plans help team members prepare for retirement with profit sharing up to 5% of their annual salary or a 401(k) with up to 3% match. Retirement plan offerings are based on the division in which team members work.

Paid Time Off

Southern does not differentiate between sick and vacation days. You work hard for your time off and we want you to use it in whatever ways suit you best.

Paid time off increases with tenure. New team member leave includes six paid holidays per year and seven additional days after their first three months with us. After a year, that becomes 12 days and gradually increases to 26 days of leave with 10 years of continuous employment. Team members may roll over up to 10 days of leave each calendar year.

To prevent unexpected circumstances from causing a loss of income, Southern also offers up to three days of bereavement leave and up to five days of leave for jury duty.


Apartment Rental Discounts

A sweet deal.

One of the greatest benefits of working for a company that owns and manages more than 75 apartment communities: discounts on rent! Full-time team members qualify for a 15% apartment rental discounts after their three-month introductory period.

Continuing Education

Support to build a successful career.

We are committed to the advancement of our team members, both professionally and personally. Through Southern Management University, team members may enroll in any number of technical and professional courses to help them further their careers.

Additionally, educational reimbursement of up to $2,000 is available for approved job-specific courses and required certifications, licensing and training. This way, employees can save their hard-earned money for something a little more fun.
